History of Dallas Stars Hockey Team

It was 1967 when Dallas Stars joined the NHL as Minnesota North Stars. It was renamed Dallas Stars in year season of 1993-1994. The team’s original name was taken from the popular French saying, “L’Etoile du Nord,” which has a meaning of “The Star of the North”. This was selected by their fans through a public contest.

Dallas Stars made a great performance during their early years, both financially and in game standing. Their fans are totally excited to see them playing.

During the first season of the team, they became fourth in Western Division that leads them to playoffs. Their first series became a victory against LA Kings, leading to another team expansion turning them to playoffs debut.

The team also experienced financial problems and low attendance within the 1970s and 1980s. Thus, they made a comeback by being a part of the Stanley Final Cup in the year 1881 and in 1991. In the latter year the team’s front office is starting to explore the option to relocate them. Their fans were felt sad about their departure that makes the NHL promise of returning back the team.

The quick success of the team together with the best season of Mike Modano earning 93 points and 50 goals, led to the spread of franchising the team. During their first season in the Texas, they made playoffs having a franchise record of 42 wins with 97 points. The team clean up the Blues in their first round yet lost Vancouver for the second round.

The early victories of the team aid in paving a way into Texas’ hockey surge. They experienced success throughout the coming six seasons yet could not make into the Cup. In 1999, they are starting to recover. They made a mark that stands even today of being best in the history of franchising enable for them to return in the Final Cup.
